Plans and prices

    Price on request

LabourNet states no upfront costs or joining fees and gives pricing on request.

Each button opens the vendor's own page in a new tab, where you buy or sign up. Prices are the vendor's, shown in rand.

Pricing in rand

LabourNet does not publish a price. The vendor gives it after you contact them, and the quote is the product: ask for the monthly price with the VAT basis stated, what is charged once only, and which SARS returns it handles for you.

Price on request

Against other hr software

Starting prices of the priced products in the same category, cheapest first. This is a price sort, not a ranking: the cheapest product is not the best one, and some are priced per user, some per month and some excluding VAT.

Starting price of each product, in rand
  • Sage HRR28 /employee
  • PeopleHRR66 /employee
  • BambooHRR165 /employee

Bar lengths use a square root scale, so a very high price does not flatten the rest. The figures are exact.

The middle starting price of the paid products here is R66.

Price on request, so not charted: LabourNet, Personio.

How far each product's paid plans stretch, cheapest plan to dearest, in rand
  • Sage HRR10 to R1 850 per employee
  • PeopleHRR66 to R208 per employee
  • BambooHRR165 to R413 per employee

Positions use a square root scale, so a very high price does not flatten the rest. The figures are exact.

A dot is one plan. Free plans and plans on request have no price to place. A per user price is the price of one user.

How long each vendor has been going, by the year it was founded
  • Sage HRFounded 1981
  • LabourNetFounded 1996
  • BambooHRFounded 2008
  • PersonioFounded 2015

A founding year says how long a company has existed. It says nothing about how good the product is.

What it is and who it is for

LabourNet is closer to a services firm with software than a software company with services. Its site groups six solution areas: Labour Law, Payroll, Health and Safety, Information Compliance covering POPIA, PAIA and the Consumer Protection Act, Transformation covering employment equity, BBBEE and skills development, and Learning with online courses in computer skills, soft skills, leadership and labour compliance.

The software

The People Management software is described as handling SARS and UIF integration, EMP201 and EMP501 documentation, leave management and online employee self service portals. Payroll can be run yourself or outsourced.

Where it falls short

A consultancy model suits employers that want guidance more than self service. If you only want to run payslips cheaply, a product with a published price may be simpler.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Labour law consulting from a firm established in 1996
  • Payroll alongside health and safety, POPIA and BBBEE support
  • People Management software with SARS and UIF integration and employee self service
  • Dedicated consultants and online training
  • No upfront costs or joining fees, by LabourNet's own statement

Limits

  • No published price
  • A service heavy model, so it is not a software purchase you complete online
  • It is hard to tell software cost from advisory time without a written quote

Who it suits

Best for

  • Employers that want labour law advice and payroll from one South African provider
  • Businesses that value dedicated consultants and guaranteed turnaround times
  • Firms that need employment equity, BBBEE or POPIA support

Think twice if

  • You want to buy software online without talking to anyone
  • You want a published price to compare against a product such as SimplePay
  • You only need a software licence, because the model is service heavy

In short

A sensible choice if you want advice and payroll under one roof. Ask for a written quote that splits software from advice, and compare it with a payroll product that publishes its price.
