PaySoft review

PaySoft · Payroll software

A payments company first: salaries, collections and account verification, quoted on request.

Sold in South AfricaResearched 11 October 2026No score, no ranking

At a glance

PaySoft's own site presents a payments business rather than a payroll calculator. It offers salary, supplier and SARS payments, debit order collections including DebiCheck, account verification, a direct Xero integration and a service for non profits and schools. It publishes no price and asks you to request a quote or book a demonstration.

    PaySoft gives pricing on request.

Each button opens the vendor's own page in a new tab, where you buy or sign up. Prices are the vendor's, shown in rand.

Pricing in rand

PaySoft does not publish a price. The vendor gives it after you contact them, and the quote is the product: ask for the monthly price with the VAT basis stated, what is charged once only, and which SARS returns it handles for you.

Price on request

Against other payroll software

Starting prices of the priced products in the same category, cheapest first. This is a price sort, not a ranking: the cheapest product is not the best one, and some are priced per user, some per month and some excluding VAT.

Bar lengths use a square root scale, so a very high price does not flatten the rest. The figures are exact.

The middle starting price of the paid products here is R60.

What it is and who it is for

The site says it serves businesses of all sizes, from those processing millions of transactions to those making a few payments a month, and names more than twenty clients, including Access Bank, Pick n Pay, Heineken and Media24.

South African fit

The compliance features described are payment specific: SARS payments, authenticated and bank verified collections, and Section 18A certificates for approved organisations. The site is bank agnostic and works with major financial institutions. Support is local, by phone and email.

Where it falls short

If you were looking for payslips and EMP201 returns, the site does not describe them. Treat PaySoft as a payments partner that pairs with a payroll engine, and confirm with the vendor whether it also offers payroll calculation.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Salary, supplier and SARS payments, with same day or next day settlement
  • DebiCheck, EFT debit orders and registered mandates
  • Account, check digit and ID verification
  • Direct Xero integration with automatic reconciliation
  • Section 18A certificates for non profits and schools

Limits

  • The site does not describe PAYE, UIF, payslips or EMP201 returns
  • No published price: request a quote or a demonstration
  • Not a like for like alternative to a payroll calculator such as SimplePay or Sage Payroll

Who it suits

Best for

  • Employers that already calculate payroll elsewhere and need reliable salary payment files
  • Businesses that collect recurring payments by DebiCheck or debit order
  • Non profits and schools that need debit order processing and Section 18A certificates

Think twice if

  • You need a tool that calculates PAYE, UIF and payslips, which the site does not describe
  • You want a price before you talk to a salesperson

In short

Read PaySoft as the payment side of payroll. If you need payslips and returns calculated, put a payroll product beside it, and ask PaySoft for a written quote for the payment service you need.
