Plans and prices

Every plan PaySpace lists, in rand, with a button to its own pricing page.

  • Quoted by the vendor

    Price on request

Per employee per month with no annual licence. PaySpace gives the rate in a demo.

Each button opens the vendor's own page in a new tab, where you buy or sign up. Prices are the vendor's, shown in rand.

Pricing in rand

PaySpace does not publish a price. The vendor gives it after you contact them, and the quote is the product: ask for the monthly price with the VAT basis stated, what is charged once only, and which SARS returns it handles for you.

Starting prices of the priced products in the same category, cheapest first. This is a price sort, not a ranking: the cheapest product is not the best one, and some are priced per user, some per month and some excluding VAT.

Bar lengths use a square root scale, so a very high price does not flatten the rest. The figures are exact.

The middle starting price of the paid products here is R60.

PaySpace Lite for small business, accountants and bookkeepers

What it is and who it is for

PaySpace offers payroll, HR, an AI assistant that answers employee and administrator questions, and employee self service delivered through WhatsApp. It runs a self serve model and a managed model, and it provides sandbox environments for testing. Its three tiers make it one of the few products in this sector that scales from a small business to a multinational.

What you get

PaySpace says it automates tax updates and statutory reporting, and offers more than 95 country specific reports, pre populated to meet local revenue authority standards. HR features cover employee records, leave management, electronic onboarding and performance tracking.

  • Payroll with automated tax updates and statutory reporting
  • HR: records, leave, onboarding and performance
  • AI Assist for payroll questions
  • WhatsApp self service for payslips, tax documents, leave and expense claims
  • General ledger integrations with Xero, QuickBooks and Acumatica
  • Workday, Power BI and Power Automate connectors on advanced tiers

South African fit

PaySpace is South African in origin and handles employees' tax and social security contributions across its markets. The homepage does not spell out SARS returns, UIF, Employment Equity or COIDA by name, so ask for a written list of South African statutory outputs. Search results also describe a Deel Local Payroll offering powered by PaySpace.

Where it falls short

The missing public rate is the obvious gap, and so is the absence of named South African statutory detail on the homepage. For a ten person business, the breadth of the platform may be more than is needed.

How it compares

Against SimplePay, PaySpace is broader and more international, and SimplePay is simpler to try. Read the full comparison for the trade offs.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Three tiers that scale from up to 50 employees to multinational payroll
  • Payroll configured for 49 countries
  • Employee self service through WhatsApp, and an AI assistant for payroll questions
  • General ledger connections with Xero, QuickBooks and Acumatica
  • Self serve or managed payroll

Limits

  • No published rate: you book a demonstration to get one
  • Probably more platform than a ten person business needs
  • The page read does not list SARS returns by name, so ask for EMP201, EMP501 and IRP5 in a demonstration

Who it suits

Best for

  • Growing employers that expect to need analytics and more advanced payroll later
  • Companies with staff in several African countries
  • Businesses that want the option of managed, outsourced payroll

Think twice if

  • You are a very small employer that wants to see a rate and sign up in minutes
  • You need a published price to compare, because PaySpace gives its rate in a demonstration
  • You only need basic payslips, where a simpler product may do

In short

A good fit for an employer that expects to grow past a basic payroll. Book the demonstration, ask for the rate by tier, and check the SARS returns you need are in the tier you are quoted.
