SAP Business One review

SAP SE · ERP software

SAP's ERP for small and midsize businesses, sold through partners on a request a quote basis.

Researched 5 October 20261 official videoNo score, no ranking

At a glance

SAP Business One is the smaller ERP in the SAP family. SAP's page describes a single, affordable ERP solution that covers accounting and financials, purchasing, inventory, sales and customer relationships, and reporting and analytics, with integrated business intelligence, integration with SAP HANA and quick deployment. It publishes no price and offers a Request a quote button.

Plans and prices

    Price on request

SAP gives pricing through a quote from a local partner.

Each button opens SAP SE's own page in a new tab, where you buy or sign up. Prices are the vendor's, shown in rand.

Pricing in rand

SAP Business One does not publish a price. SAP SE gives it after you contact them, and the quote is the product: ask for the monthly price with the VAT basis stated, what is charged once only, and which SARS returns it handles for you.

What it is and who it is for

SAP says Business One helps you manage small businesses from accounting and financials to purchasing, inventory, sales and customer relationships, and to reporting and analytics. It also positions the product for subsidiaries of larger groups that want control over a business unit.

South African fit

SAP's Africa page repeats the global description and does not list South African tax features. Business One is typically delivered through local partners, who configure VAT, eFiling and bank integration, so judge the partner's South African references as carefully as the software.

Where it falls short

The page is brief and marketing led, offering no limits, user counts or pricing structure. The product's reputation is strong, but the experience varies with the partner.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • A recognised ERP brand for small and midsize businesses
  • Covers financials, purchasing, inventory, sales, customers and reporting
  • Integrates with SAP HANA
  • Delivered through local partners, who set up VAT, eFiling and bank integration

Limits

  • No published price: request a quote
  • The page is brief and marketing led
  • The experience varies with the implementation partner
  • The page lists no South African tax features

Who it suits

Best for

  • Small and midsize businesses that want a recognised ERP brand
  • Companies that want to be part of the SAP family as they grow
  • Businesses that will buy through a local implementation partner

Think twice if

  • You want a price without a conversation, because none is published
  • You want a simple tool, because implementation is a project
  • You want to compare partners, because who implements it matters as much as the software

In short

A sensible shortlist name for a growing business that wants an ERP brand. Ask two partners to quote the same scope and show you VAT, eFiling and your bank in a live demonstration.
