All prices are in rand. Where a vendor lists in dollars, pounds or euros we convert at R16.53 per US dollar, R21.86 per pound and R18.53 per euro (European Central Bank reference rates, via Frankfurter, 9 OCT 2026).

Amounts written out in the text of this review are at the reference rate of 2 October 2026. The charts and the calculator use the rates above, so a figure can differ by a rand or two.

Salesforce Sales Cloud in the vendor's own videos

What Salesforce is

Overview, 8:51, published 8 July 2024. From the Salesforce channel on YouTube.

A video loads from YouTube only when you press play. The still picture before that comes from YouTube's image servers.

What it is and who it is for

Sales Cloud is the sales product within Salesforce. The page describes the Free Suite as account, contact, lead and opportunity management with basic features, Starter Suite as adding built in sales flows, lead routing, AI email and event syncing and dynamic email marketing, and Pro Suite as adding greater customisation, sales quoting and forecasting. Core adds Premier Success, Slack Business plus and Tableau Next. Advanced adds enhanced security, more AI, expanded data capacity and backup and recovery. Max adds the full suite of AI, including Agentforce for Sales and Sales Planning.

Where it falls short

Cost and complexity are the main drawbacks. The free and Starter suites make the product accessible, and the step up to Pro Suite is a factor of four per user. Without an administrator, a smaller team may not use the power it is paying for.

How it compares

Against HubSpot, Salesforce is deeper and costlier, while HubSpot is easier to start and cheaper at the low end. See the full comparison.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • A Free Suite, then a ladder of six editions
  • Deep customisation, forecasting and AI at the higher editions
  • An enormous ecosystem of partners and consultants, including South African ones

Limits

  • Paid editions run from about R418 to about R9 202 per user a month
  • The step from Starter Suite to Pro Suite is a factor of four
  • Usually needs an administrator or a partner
  • Ten users on Core would pay about R32 600 a month

Who it suits

Best for

  • Larger sales organisations that need deep customisation and forecasting
  • Teams that want an enormous ecosystem of partners, apps and consultants
  • Businesses that will use the AI and Agentforce features at the higher editions

Think twice if

  • You are a small team on a rand budget, because the paid editions start at about R418 per user
  • You want a simple tool, because Salesforce is a platform that usually needs an administrator
  • You need the free suite to remain enough, because limits push you up

In short

A deep platform that rewards complexity and a team to run it. Price your real edition and seat count in rand before you commit, and ask a South African partner what implementation will cost.
