At a glance

Zoho CRM is Zoho's customisable CRM. A free edition covers three users for good, and the paid editions, billed annually, are Standard at about R234, Professional at about R385, Enterprise at about R669 and Ultimate at about R870 per user a month, with local taxes such as VAT added. It splits users into org users and team users, which keeps colleagues outside sales connected at a lower licence cost.

Pricing in rand

Zoho CRM lists 5 priced plans: Free at no cost, Standard at R231 /user, Professional at R380 /user, Enterprise at R661 /user, Ultimate at R860 /user. Every figure is shown in rand, converted from the vendor's own price at the day's reference rate.

The vendor states a VAT basis, so both footings are known: Standard is R231 excluding VAT, R266 including VAT. A business registered for VAT claims the VAT back, so the figure excluding VAT is its real cost.

Zoho adds local taxes such as VAT to these prices. Free onboarding is advertised on the Zoho page.

All prices are in rand. Where a vendor lists in dollars, pounds or euros we convert at R16.53 per US dollar, R21.86 per pound and R18.53 per euro (European Central Bank reference rates, via Frankfurter, 9 OCT 2026).

Amounts written out in the text of this review are at the reference rate of 2 October 2026. The charts and the calculator use the rates above, so a figure can differ by a rand or two.

What it is and who it is for

Zoho CRM is a customisable CRM sold as part of the Zoho family. The pricing page explains two kinds of licence: org users, who have full access to the sales modules, and team users, who have partial access suited to marketing, support, legal and finance colleagues. Team users can add notes and view records but cannot own records, build reports or create automation, which is a useful way to keep non sales colleagues connected at a lower cost.

Where it falls short

Zoho's flexibility comes with complexity. The team user rules, modules and editions take time to understand, and a small team may find the setup heavier than Pipedrive.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • A free edition for three users
  • Team user licences keep colleagues outside sales connected at a lower cost
  • Free onboarding is advertised
  • Part of the wider Zoho suite, with a South African regional site

Limits

  • Free only for up to three users
  • The flexibility brings a learning curve
  • Fewer local consultants than the big names
  • Local taxes such as VAT are added to the prices

Who it suits

Best for

  • Small teams that want to start free and have up to three users
  • Businesses that already use Zoho Books or other Zoho products
  • Price sensitive firms that want a flexible platform

Think twice if

  • You need more than three users for free, because paid editions apply beyond that
  • You want a large local consulting network, where Salesforce or HubSpot have more
  • You want a simple tool, because the flexibility brings a learning curve

In short

A strong value choice, especially for a team already in the Zoho family. Start on the free edition, and price the paid edition that holds the automation you need before you scale.
